No Zeal = No Christian

While it is possible to have a misguided zeal for error, it is not possible that a man can really know the truth of God and yet have no zeal for it. A Christian with no fervency is no Christian at all. Those who have truly been born of God have a genuine conviction of truth and a heartfelt love for their fellow men, and that invariably manifests itself in an ardor for making the truth known to others. The true Christian diligently seeks out the truth for himself on all points and earnestly labors to make that truth known. One should never accept the Christian profession of those who are content to leave others in a state of ignorance of God's will.

Nor should those lukewarm and wishy-washy souls be accepted as true Christians who are satisfied with merely leading people into a few "essential doctrines" but have a "you go your way and I'll go mine" attitude on everything else. Those who have a genuine God-wrought conviction of the truth desire to conform their entire lives to the way of Jesus, lead others into that same way, and be united in fellowship with them. They will labor for unity in the body of Christ rather than being content with the institutionalized schism of our day (commonly known as denominationalism). A true Christian is not satisfied with a fraudulent and ungodly form of unity that is based on the profession of a few "foundational truths." He seeks a unity that is founded upon a common adherence to biblical principles faithfully applied to all of life.
